Hi there! My name is Jared Nadin, your Vice President Academic Officer for 2025/26
What did you study?
I studied World Music in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance over on North Campus.
What is your role?
As Academic Officer, my job is to represent students when it comes to academic affairs, and to work with my fellow officers in improving your student experience.
What does your role entail?
I represent the student voice on a number of UL committees, like Academic Council and the Academic Regulations Committee. I gather student opinions for these committees through Student Council, and through my role as Chairperson of the Class Reps Forum. I also help students find answers to any academic queries they might have.
Tell us a bit about you?
I love all things music, I play quite a few instruments and, thanks to the World Music program, I listen to music from all over – currently, I listen to a lot of Turkish, Japanese, and Indian music. I performed with UL Musical Theatre Society for the last two years and I’m also a member of Limerick Chamber Choir. Outside of music, I also enjoy reading, writing poetry, and playing trading-card games with friends on the weekends.
Why did you become a student officer?
I ran for this role so I could help connect students with the numerous support services available on campus. As a former college drop-out, I understand how challenging student life can be, and I want to do whatever I can to ease the burden on students. I am also excited to represent my fellow North Campus students as the first elected officer from the Irish World Academy.
What are your goals for the year?
My predecessors, Seán Keaney and Ronan Mannix have advocated strongly for abolishing repeat fees (get the fees gone!) and I am committed to continuing that work. I want to ensure students have access to an online platform where they can connect with ALL of UL’s support services, and I also plan to advocate for fair and equal representation of faculties at careers fairs and within the Co-operative education program.
Where can students find you on campus?
You can find me on the ground floor in the new student centre, or at various hotdesks across campus, If you spot me, feel free to come and chat! Besides that, you can also find me attending lunchtime concerts in the Irish World Academy, or hitting up a table quiz or karaoke night around campus.
