UL Student Life Strikes Gold Again at Sockie Awards 2025 - This Time for TikTok!
UL Student Life has won Gold for Best TikTok at this year’s Sockie Awards, Ireland’s premier social media awards. The win marks back-to-back victories for the Union, having secured Best Instagram at the 2024 ceremony.
The Sockies, officially known as the Social Media Awards, celebrate outstanding achievement in social media by brands, agencies, NGOs, public bodies, and SMEs across Ireland. This year’s event, held in Dublin, saw UL Student Life recognised for its creative and authentic use of TikTok to connect with and represent the University of Limerick’s vibrant student community.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to win Gold for Best TikTok,” said Nicole Roche, Digital Marketing Coordinator at UL Student Life. “Our aim has always been to give students a platform that’s fun, relatable, and empowering, and TikTok has been an incredible space for that. To be recognised alongside some of the most innovative social media voices in the country is a real honour.”
A key part of UL Student Life’s success lies in its peer-to-peer content model. Rather than speaking to students, the organisation speaks through them, using the voices, faces and stories of students themselves to drive engagement and foster real connection. At the heart of this strategy is the Creative Crew, UL Student Life’s talented student media team. The Creative Crew plays a central role in producing and starring in TikToks that reflect the humour, challenges and energy of student life in Limerick.

By meeting students where they are and letting them lead the conversation, the organisation has built one of the most dynamic and recognisable student voices in Ireland’s digital space.
