We would like to wish students who will be sitting the upcoming August exams the very best of luck!
Please be sure to mind yourselves, take regular breaks from study and try to get enough sleep and stay hydrated!

We are here to help with any questions or queries you may have about exams and can guide you to the relevant supports where needed.

First things first, it's important to know that UL Student Life are independent of UL and are not involved in the process of exams, igrades or repeats. You will need to contact Academic Registry here through topdesk.

We have put together a short guide with the most frequently asked questions we get at exam time to cut through the noise and hopefully help you get the information you need quickly!

Where can I access my exam timetable?

You can view exam timetables here.

I don't have my student ID, What are my options?

A Driving Licence or Passport will be accepted as an alternative form of ID.  If you don’t have any ID on you, head to Academic Registry (E0-001, UL Main Building) at least 30 minutes before your exam with your student number, name and date of birth. Academic Registry can use a screenshot of the Student ID and stamp this on headed paper for you to use.

What are the rules in the exam hall?

  • You can’t enter the exam hall 20 minutes after the exam starts.
  • You can’t leave the exam hall in the first 30 minutes of the exam or during the final 10 minutes of the exam time.
  • Phones, smart watches, calculator covers, pencil cases, electronic devices*, outdoor clothing and bags are NOT allowed in the exam hall.
*unless explicitly approved by the relevant academic staff member

What is an i-grade?

If you're facing a sudden crisis just before or during exams that stops you from sitting your exam? You can apply for an I-grade. It is important to note that applying for an I-grade does not mean that you will automatically be approved and it has implications. You can contact our advice team at advicehub@ul.ie to discuss options. The below graphic will also map out what an I-grade would look like for you.

The I-grade portal closes on Saturday Aug 31st.

You can find more information about I-grades and how to apply for one here through the portal.

Please be aware that you cannot apply for an i-grade if you attend and commence a scheduled exam. You must not sit an exam if you intent on applying for an i-grade for that exam.

When are results out?

You can access your repeat results on the 6th September at 10.00am using this link.
